The female mosquito is the culprit behind those itchy bites, as she’s attracted to the carbon dioxide we exhale (basically, she loves our breath). She feeds on blood to help her eggs develop, leaving behind those pesky red and itchy bumps. These ladies can live up to 100 days and lay between 200 and 300 eggs, so they’re always on the hunt for their next meal.

Here’s what you need to know about these buzzing buddies: they need water to breed, they’re most active at night, and the only signs of their presence are their annoying buzz or those bite marks on your skin. In South Africa, you might encounter the Malaria Mosquito, Bush Mosquitoes, or the House Mosquito.

Keeping mosquitoes at bay

Ditch the Standing Water: Mosquitoes need water to breed, so make sure to drain any standing water around your home. Check those pet water dishes, bird baths, and clogged drains—no more mosquito nurseries!
Get Your Net On: If you've got outdoor hangouts, grab some mosquito nets to keep them from ruining the vibe. It's like having your own personal mosquito force field!
Plant Some Repellents: Certain plants like citronella, lavender, and basil are like mosquito repellent superheroes. Plant them around your home and watch those mosquitoes fly away!
Screen It Up: Make sure all your windows and doors have screens. It's like putting up a "No Mosquitoes Allowed" sign!
Repel with Repellents: When you're outdoors, whip out those insect repellents with DEET or picaridin. It's like having a magic shield against mosquito bites!

Targeted Treatments: We use targeted treatments to kill mosquitoes and prevent them from breeding. This might include sprays or other products that are safe for humans but deadly to mosquitoes.
Catchment: We place dispensers that mimics a human being by creating small amounts of carbon dioxide. Together with an irrisistable LED light, the fan sucks mosquitoes and trap them, where they die.
Larvae Control: We treat areas where mosquito larvae might be developing, such as ponds or other bodies of water.
Preventative Measures: Finally, we provide advice on how to prevent future infestations. This might include tips on eliminating standing water, using mosquito repellents, and installing screens on windows and doors.
